Hallmark
IT IS THE ASSAY OFFICE THAT GUARDS THE CREDIBILITY AND THE PURITY OF AN ASSAY.
Assay office is a central government body which verifies and certifies the amount of a pure noble metal contained in a ready-made product.
Assay office certifies an assay by stamping or laser-imprinting a mark - the so-called hallmark. Vendible goods which are made out of noble metals undergo mandatory hallmarking. The only exceptions are goods made out of gold weighing up to 1 gram and silver weighing up to 5 grams. These particular goods do not have to possess hallmarks.
Everyone can check the purity of an assay. Simply, you just have to bring your jewelry, provided it is made out of noble metals, to an assay office.
Hallmark patterns are standardized.
